Devon Hackett

(RAD RTS, AISTD) - Owner and Artistic Director

Devon started dancing with Wendy at the studio at the age of six. She was invited to join Tiptoes Company in its first year in 1988-89, and remained a member until she graduated.  After a brief stint as a music student, Devon returned to dance, assisting Wendy with classes and then taking on her own classes in 2001, while completing both an undergraduate and a Master’s degree in History at UVic.  Since finishing her degrees, Devon has focused on teaching and dancing, expanding her expertise to include modern and tap as well as ballet. She has successfully completed the dance teacher training programs of the Royal Academy of Dance (ballet), and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (modern theatre and tap), qualifying her to teach all three syllabi and to enter students for examinations.  During this intensive dance training period, Devon was invited to dance in several productions with local ballet companies, and she is thrilled to have had this taste of professional performing experience.

Devon is proud to have taken over Wendy's studio, and looks forward to carrying on Wendy's legacy of providing high-quality dance training in a positive, student-centred environment.

Allison May

Artistic Director

Allison began ballet classes with Wendy in 1991, at the age of 5. With now more than 20 years of ballet training, she has more recently expanded her repertoire to include modern, jazz, tap, and hip hop. Her training has included successful completion of RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern Theatre examinations at the Intermediate level. Allison has performed extensively in local shows and Festivals, including Alberta Ballet's production of the Nutcracker, and works by modern choreographer Nicole McSkimming. Allison has been teaching classes for Wendy for the past 9 years, and her dances have won awards at both the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival and the DanceWorks Festival. Allison also recently graduated from UVic, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology

Ainsley started dancing with Wendy at age 4. Since then she has been a member of the Tiptoes Dance Company, completed her RAD Intermediate Ballet exam, as well as ISTD Intermediate in Tap and Modern, achieving a mark of Distinction in both. In recent years, she has also danced with Maureen Eastick at Pacific Dance Centre, as well as completing a year at the Canadian College of Performing Arts. She is currently studying History and various other subjects at Camosun College, as well as teaching and assisting with various classes at the studio. She is thrilled to be teaching her own classes after stepping in for Devon while on maternity leave in the latter half of last year.
